GFOA Alberta is Growing!
We’ve always been dedicated to supporting our Albertan municipalities and their Finance Officers and support staff, and now, as our world gets smaller and better connected every day, we are delighted to open our doors to our fellow municipalities from our neighbouring provinces as well.
We’re creating resources for our new members, including a brand new series in conjuunction with the CRA on GST/HST management, featuring Michael Monk and designed specifically for our newest ‘Province Plus’ members joining from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Yukon.
We’re also collaborating with GFOA US and Canada to offer special discounted rates for all of our members, both inside and outside Alberta, and lots more.

Hello everyone,
Just a short note…. My last golf game was going so badly that my caddie was getting exasperated. On the 11 the hole I was 160 yards from the green, I asked my caddie “Do you think I can get there with a 6 iron?” “Eventually.” Was his reply.
I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful summer and finding time to relax and recharge before the busy fall season. If you are in the north central area I hope you get a few consecutive days of sunshine, and if you are in the south I hope you get a few days of rain! We’re looking forward to attending the Manitoba Municipal Administrators (MMA) Conference in Winnipeg this September, where we’ll have the opportunity to connect with finance professionals from across Manitoba, share ideas, and strengthen relationships within our municipal finance community.
As we head into a new season of learning, our 2026–27 Professional Development schedule is now available below. We encourage you to explore the lineup and mark your calendars for another great year of learning and networking. The PD Insider will be sent out in the next week with the links to the sessions. And as always, if you have any suggestions for training or would like to receive specific training for a group you assemble let us know.
